Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of internal heat acupuncture therapy combined with sling exercise training (SET) in the treatment of discogenic low back pain (DLBP). Methods: 107 DLBP patients were selected as the research subjects and divided into a control group (n=54) and a study group (n=53) according to different treatment plans. The control group patients received SET treatment, and the patients in the research group were treated with SET combined with internal heat needle therapy for a course of 4 weeks. Clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups. The following parameters were assessed before and after treatment: lumbar spine function, lumbar range of motion, pain intensity, quality of life, and serum levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, substance P (SP), and β-endorphin (β-EP). Results: The total effective rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment, the study group showed higher scores on the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, lumbar spine mobility, quality of life, and β-EP level compared to the control group (P<0.05), while lower levels of the Oswestry Disability Index, pain intensity, IL-1β, IL-6, and SP compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Internal heat acupuncture therapy combined with sling exercise training for DLBP of the cold-dampness obstruction pattern can improve lumbar function and range of motion, effectively alleviate pain, and enhance quality of life.
