Application of dietary and exercise prescriptions and behavioral interventions based on the WeChat platform in the health management of MAFLD patients

    Abstract:

    Objective To explore the application effect of dietary and exercise prescriptions and behavioral interventions based on the WeChat platform in the health management of patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Methods Patients diagnosed with MAFLD by liver ultrasound and transient elastography in the physical examination center of our hospital from Jan, 2024 to Jul, 2025 were selected as the research subjects. All subjects were followed up until January 2026. They were divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received conventional intervention, while the observation group implemented dietary and exercise prescriptions and behavioral intervention based on the WeChat platform. The albumin (ALB), fasting blood glucose (FBG), liver function indicators [total bilirubin (TBil), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST)], and lipid metabolism indicators [total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)] and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) were compared between the two groups. Results After the intervention, the ALB in both groups was lower than that before treatment, and the ALB in the observation group was lower than that in the control group after the intervention (P<0.05). After the intervention, the levels of TBil, ALT and AST in both groups were lower than those before the intervention, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention in both groups, TC, TG and LDL-C were lower than those before the intervention, while HDL-C was higher than that before the intervention. After the intervention, TC, TG and LDL-C in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and HDL-C was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The CAP of both groups after intervention was lower than that before treatment, and the CAP of the observation group after intervention was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Dietary and exercise prescriptions combined with behavioral interventions delivered via the WeChat platform may help improve liver function, lipid metabolism, and the degree of hepatic steatosis in patients with MAFLD, offering a feasible intervention model for the continuous health management of these patients.
